About Me

Hi, I'm Chen Di, a third-year industrial design student at Carleton University. One of my clearest childhood memories is being captivated by the stationery items my friend had at her house. I would eagerly ask her what each item was for and how to use it. That early curiosity about how things worked and their connection to their appearance sparked my passion for design. That passion only deepened as I grew older, and when the opportunity to pursue industrial design came my way, I knew it was the path for me.
Architect Richard Buckminster Fuller once said, "When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty; I think only of how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know that it is wrong." I strive to embody this philosophy in my work to create designs that lead to meaningful and functional solutions. I aspire to collaborate with other talented designers, combining our expertise to create a safer and more inclusive world.
Through my studies, I've gained experience in sketching, CAD modeling, 3D printing, and more, which help me turn ideas into tangible, functional concepts. I have a strong interest in creating user-centered designs.
